T3 - UK (2020-04)

(Antfer) #1

The industry has already hit

upon a form factor that works,

and it is now desperate to

change it to avoid seeming stale

There’s a three step process
that starts with your shoes:
if you’re prone to such
issues, make sure you pick running
footwear wide enough that it gives
your toes plenty of room to wiggle
and fitted enough that it sits snugly
around your heel. Good socks,
ideally a polyester-cotton blend,
can also make a difference for
those with slightly sweatier feet.
Finally, don’t be afraid to put a
barrier, like a plaster, between your
toes and those places which might
rub. Doctor Guru, license
suspended, suggests sticking to
preventative action rather than any
potential home treatments.

How can I

protect my

watch glass?

Do you think

I should get a

folding phone?

How do I

prevent calluses

when running?

A

Perhaps the question
should actually be ‘should
you’; while a pristine watch
is a beautiful thing, watches are
made for wearing, and if you’re too
terrified to even strap it onto your
wrist there’s not even much point in
owning that timepiece at all.
Sure, there are plenty of plastic
film protectors out there – expect
to pay around £3 – that stick on to
any old watch crystal and protect it
from dings, but you’ll probably be
okay without. On the other hand,
tempered glass screen protectors
for the more fragile screens of
smart watches are a great thing,
and they’ll cost around a tenner.

You have foolishly forgone
gadget advice and instead
asked for Guru’s opinion,
and it is this: folding phones don’t
feel, to him, quite worth jumping on
to yet. The compromises on overall
sturdiness (remember, Guru’s house
is always in at least two distinct
stages of carnage) and price don’t
seem worth the street cred of being
able to whip out a folder and
waggle it in your chump friends’
faces. Some of the rest of the T3
team feel differently (discussions
of the Galaxy Fold usually involve
some variation on the phrase
‘untapped potential’), and the idea
of a phone that doesn’t stick out of
the top of your pocket is nice. But
not for Guru just yet.
