Brown plumage
I then proceed to the plumage on the head. For
this, I used a light brown hue and then followed that up
with a mid-range brown hue. For the shadow elements, I

started working with black. To conclude, I lightened up the
feathering or the upper side of the head with some white.
This was naturally all done per freehand.

The wing
I attack the plumage on the wings in the same man-
ner as I worked on the head, going from light to dark. In
conclusion, I’ve lightened up the front edge and the indi-
vidual feathers. I then had the wing flow out with a bit of
black background. In between, I switched back and forth to
the beak and the eye to work in some more details.

The local mountain “Grimming“
As already mentioned, I transferred the mountain
with a beamer and a white colored marker together with the
eagle onto the Al III and then covered up the contours. I con-
tinue with the same principle here, namely going from light
to dark. I also made use of my texture stencils quite a bit here
as well. While doing this work, I’ve got my reference picture

next to me on the laptop the whole time, just like I did with
the eagle. With the mountain, I wasn‘t interested in creating
as many details as possible. What was important for me was
creating the contours of ”Grimming“ to ensure that it was
very much and immediately recognizable as mount “Grim-
ming”.
