The stars
After that, I work on the stars.
I spray transparent base to lay out
the surfaces of the milky way. I then
sprinkle some metal flakes into the still
damp layer of paint. But you’ve got
to be quick when doing this and you
can’t spray too strongly, since the lay-
ers dry very quickly. I create additional
stars later with a cross-shaped gashed
star stencil. I also spray over some stars
with cobalt blue to make them look as
though they are further away.

The mountains
I’ve sprayed the mountains
with the finished stencils. This means
that I also spray the contours of the
snow-covered mountains with white
and then, below that, with a mix of
white and light blue. I then mask up
the white mountains and spray the
blue mountains stationed in front of
them. The mist between the mountains
and the forest have been created with
a mixture of 50 percent transparent
base and white plus cobalt blue.

The forest
I then went about creating the
forest per freehand and using the co-
lors black and cobalt blue. I begin whe-
re the trees start and spray the trunks
and branches. In so doing, I have the
airbrush very close to the surface. The
lower half of the trees are sprayed with
shaky lines. After that, I mask up the
shoreline and spray the lower border
of the forest to the sea with a strongly
diluted black.

The rocks
I’ve painted the stones with
the airbrush. I initially required just
light and shadow. I’ve mixed black and
white to create the color for the stones.
I needed a light gray hue for the areas
located in the upper region and a dark
gray for the sides. Afterwards, I’ve en-
hanced some blue reflections to the
water in the lower area of the stones.
I’ll touch things up later with the brush.

The sea
I start by giving the forest
some protection using masking tape.
Then I paint on a thin line to create the
horizon using white. There’s a bit of
shine on the surface in the picture and
I’ve created this with the transparent

base and white. Using black, I spray the
blurred reflections of the forest on the
water. This is all concluded with white
for the highlights of the tree reflec-
tions and a good spray of cobalt blue
over the entire sea.
