So Cultures – July 2019

(C. Jardin) #1
The founders tell proudly about their project, “When you think of slums,
seldom arises the topic of the people living in them, their stories, their
struggle and their capabilities. Most people have incredibly negative
thoughts about slum dwelling and its residents. Very few people even look
twice at the slum areas in their own city. Using art as a medium, Color has
the power to create change. Some would say what difference can a color
make? I believe it gives them a sense of joy, an identity and hope that things
are going to be okay.
Small changes together can make a huge impact.”
Dedeepya Reddy, of Chal Rang De tells more about the techniques and
materials used in their art projects..
“We use material from this company called Dr Fixit Rahat, which reduces
the indoor temperature by four-five degrees, water proofing, and lasts for at
least five years, and costs too little. In total we have created 55 wall mural
and 3D floor art. The people in these areas have a new sense of ownership.”

SoCultures applauds your efforts. Keep spreading love and colors in the
lives of people...
