The Brazilian singer and
composer João Gilberto died on
6th July 2019 at his house in Rio
de Janeiro. He was 88.
Joao Gilberto was a pioneer of
the Brazilian musical genre
Bossa Nova or the new wave
that gained popularity
internationally in the 1960s.
Gilberto is often credited with
helping develop the sound of the
genre that brought Brazilian
music to the world.
