FISU is about to complete a busy 2022, with no less than 16

World University Championships and Cups. Other challenges

will mark 2023 with the resume of FISU World University

Games after two postponements and a cancellation.

Rebound may be the word of

the year for the International

University Sports Federation

(FISU), as for many global

sports federations. 2022 saw a

return to a semblance of normal

after the pandemic challenges

of 2020 and 2021. FISU lived

this with multiple events and

initiatives taking place, returning

student-athletes to competition,

and the dual career balance

between sport and academics.

While 2021 ended in a

disappointing fashion with the

unfortunate cancellation of

the Lucerne 2021 FISU World

University Games Winter,

following the postponement of

the Chengdu 2021 FISU World

University Games Summer,

2022 brought much more

positivity with twelve FISU
