BADMINTON


JULY 25-


Badminton competition welcomed a total of 122


student athletes (68 male and 54 female) to Lodz,


forming a total number of 19 universities competing.


The competition of badminton
was played in both men’s and
women’s singles and doubles,
as well as in badminton teams
and mixed doubles, all of them
showing their full willing power
and determination to earn a
place on the podium.

In the men’s singles tournament,
John Torjussen from University
of Nottingham (GBR) defeated
Valentin Singer from University

of Bordeaux (FRA) with the
result of 2:0.

Rosy Pancasari from University
of Strasbourg (FRA) won the
gold medal in a match against
Daniella Csilla Gonda from
University of Pecs (HUN) in the
finals of women’s singles.

In women’s doubles Sian Kelly
and Rachael Woods from
University of Nottingham
(GBR) won the title after

winning the final against their
fellow athletes from Admiral
Makarov National University of
Shipbuilding (UKR), Valyeriya
Masaylo and Polina Tkach.

At the final in the tournament
of men’s doubles, the athletes
from University of Strasbourg
(FRA), Thomas Baures and
Mateo Martinez won the gold
medal in a match against
Samuel Smith and John
