EUROPEAN HANDBALL FEDERATION


The European Handball Federation (EHF) was founded in 1991 in Vienna and


is the umbrella organisation for 49 member federations and three associated


federations, stretching to all corners of the European continent. Since its


foundation EHF has taken on the role of ambassador to European handball,


acting as a common voice for the European member federations and representing


the entire European Handball Family on the international sporting stage.


EHF and EUSA have a
longstanding relationship,
sharing an official partnership
since 2013 when a Memorandum
of Understanding was signed
between the two organisations.


Both organisations continually
support and engage with each
other in events and activities
while promoting both Handball
and Beach Handball among
students in Europe, with EUSA
especially pleased to have the
continued support from EHF
with regards to the EHF young
referees programme and court
equipment.


EUSA is also a partner in the
Erasmus+ funded project
VolFair – Be(ach) Volunteer,
Be(ach) Fair! In which EHF
has also presented interest
in taking part, having the EHF
Beach Handball Manager,


Mr.Tobia Pisani, joining one of
the VolFair meeting in Tilburg,
and confirming the participation
interest of EHF in the project.

15 th of November, following
the kind EHF invitation sent to
EUSA, on the occasion of the
Women’s EHF EURO 2022, a
meeting between European
Handball Federation and EUSA
was held in EUSA Office in
Ljubljana.

At the meeting, the European
Handball Federation was
represented by EHF President –
Mr Michael Wiederer, Mr Marcos
Bestilleiro – Responsible for
Competitions and Referee
Operations and Mr Predrag
Boskovic – EHF Vice-President.

Among the topics of discussion
of the meeting, were shared
tasks and responsibilities of

the organisation of events, as
stated in the Memorandum of
Understanding between both
organisations, nominations of
Technical Delegates, Officials
and Referees, as well as future
events.

Future Handball and Beach
Handball events on the
EUSA calendar were mainly
discussed and presented. In
2023 the European Universities
Championship in Handball
in Podgorica, taking place
from 8-14 of July and the
Championship in Beach
Handball, in Malaga from
20-23 of September were also
presented.

Next on the EUSA Calendar
of sports events, discussed
were the Handball and Beach
Handball competitions part
of the European Universities

Games in 2024 in Debrecen-
Miskolc, foreseen to take place
from 12-24 of July in Debrecen.
In further future, as already
scheduled, presented were
also the European Universities
Championship in Handball, to be
organised in Covilha, Portugal,
from 22-28 of July 2025 and
Beach Handball, attributed
again to Malaga from July 20-
25, 2025.

Upon agreement was also the
establishment of wider synergies
in the field of communication
between both organisations
and future closer collaboration,
for better promotion of EUSA
Sports Events.
