GAMES 2026

Italy, full of art and culture, is one of the founding countries

of the European Community. Situated at the centre of the

Mediterranean, it is crossroads of different cultures.

It has a total of 100,000

monuments of all kinds and, at

the same time, is a country with

an advanced economy, rich in

sports traditions as well.

In such context, the Campania

Region (located in the heart

of Italy), which has already

hosted and organised, in 2019,

the World Universities Games

(UNIVERSIADE NAPLES 2019)

with the patronage of FISU, has

applied for the organisation of

the 2026 European Universities

Games, together with the City

of Salerno, the University of

Salerno and CUSI, through CUS

Salerno.

The province of Salerno, with

its (approximately) 1,000,000

inhabitants, including its

natural beauties which can

be considered among the

most attractive in the world,

and the city of Salerno has

gradually become a destination

for tourists from all over the

world, enhancing its remarkable

geographical position and the

places along the coast, bathed

by the sea.

Future and planning have found

a strong natural outlet in the

University of Salerno, which is

located, for logistical reasons,

at about 10 km from the capital

city, and which has rapidly

climbed positions in the Italian

and European rankings, thanks

to the development and review

of the concept of Anglo-Saxon

campus, the birth, growth and

development of University

departments of excellence in

all scientific and non-scientific

fields, with particular reference

to the Departments of

Computer Science, Engineering,

Physics and scientific faculties,

without neglecting classical

studies and Medicine as well.

Currently, the University of

Salerno has two campuses:

Campus in Fisciano: and

Campus in Baronissi, with about

40.000 students enrolled,

17 Departments, 81 Degree

and training activities in order

to create, enrich and make

available for students the

scientific and cultural heritage

built over the years through

studies and research and to

increase its internationalisation

and encourage international
