A hundred and ninety-eight male student athletes

and 121 female student athletes, were competing in a

total of 15 individual competitions, played out across

different weight categories and Judo styles.

One of the combat sports, judo,

where techniques are generally

intended to turn an opponent’s

force to one’s own advantage

rather than to oppose it directly

has been part of the European

Universities Games. All the

competitors showed courtesy

in practice and intended to

promote an attitude of calm

readiness and confidence

throughout all the matches.
