Programme, throughout
the three working days. Mr
Krzysztof Jóźwik, rector of the
Lodz University of Technology
and Mr Adam Roczek, President
of EUSA, opened the Program,
inviting the future hosts to
take as much knowledge and
experience from this program,
as well as to define their goals
in advance so we can all put
a bigger value on the long-
lasting legacy of the European
Universities Games, in order to
keep developing the community
and the university sport.


The program consisted of
presentations on different
topics connected to the
Observer Programme and
organizational matters of
European Universities Games, as
one of the biggest sports events
organized in Europe.


First to have a presentation
was Mr Matjaž Pečovnik, who
spoke about EUSA, EUSA
sport event philosophy, joint
projects, publications and past
experiences and knowledge
gained from organizing the
past 5 editions of the European
Universities Games, pointing
out that the collaboration, good
work, mutual communication
and keeping the legacy of the
Games is a very important thing


to focus on, to build bigger and
better European Universities
Games in the future.

Next to transfer knowledge, was
Mr Besim Aliti, who spoke about
managing EUSA sports events,
the lifecycle of an event, the
strategic planning, operational
planning, event delivery and
mobilisation, stating the
importance of understanding
the process and learning from
previous experiences, as the
best way to prevent risks and
to do better. Mr Aliti shared a
lot of examples and practices
from previous experiences
related to different parts of
the managing process such as:
bidding, mobilising partners,
stakeholders, strategic planning,
priorities, engaging human
resources, operational planning,
event delivery and testing
through organizing bigger
sports events before organizing
European Universities Games.

Sharing personal organisational
experience was also, Ms Marta
Rybicka, representative from
this year’s OC, explaining
different roles, details about
accreditation process, deadlines,
transportation, accommodation,
safety measures, guests and
officials, sports and many other
details related to the experience

of the process of organizing this
edition of the Games.

In the next days of the EUSA
Observer Programme,
attendees had the chance to
hear more about other parts
of organizational matters and
insights of different teams
and representatives working
in different fields, such as
sport and media, protocol,
and hospitality. They also had
multiple tours, visiting sports
venues, accreditation centre,
catering area, that served as a
tool to get to know the process
from a practical point of view, on
the spot.

The transfer of knowledge and
best practice related to the
sports competition, belonged
to Mr Miha Zvan, Sports
Manager of EUSA and Mr Kamil
Kozlowski, Sports Manager from
the Organizational Committee,
while Mr Besim Aliti, EUSA
Representative and Mr Cezary
Sysiak, OC representative
shared their experience and best
practices related to organization
of transportation.

Experience and advice related
to Protocol and Hospitality
were shared by Ms Sara
Rozman, EUSA Education
and Development Manager

and Mr Kole Gjelosaj, mostly
pointing out the importance of
Protocol, the receptions, the
program for the officials and
guests, the Opening and Closing
ceremonies, as well as the
medal ceremonies.

The future organizers of
European Universities Games
2024 and 2026, as well as other
potential organizers and guests
had the chance to also hear
more about organizing details
about Media coverage, the needs
and the requirements that
must be fulfilled for promotion
and the role of media in the
European Universities Games.
Presentation on Marketing,
Media and Communications was
given from Mr Andrej Pisl, EUSA
Project and Communications
Manager and Mr Dominik
Kowalczyk, OC Representative.

The participants were very
pleased and happy to take
part of this programme,
sharing that the knowledge
and practical examples and
information that they got
through these discussion and
presentations, gave them a
better insight and that will help
them a lot in future planning
and organization of the next
European Universities Games
and Championships.
