Organising Committee, it was
possible to cover the costs
of travel, participation and
equipment for the agreed
participants. In addition, WAKO
donated the sports equipment
for kickboxing.


This solidarity fund gave the
athletes coming from Ukraine
a chance to participate, which
they took as an opportunity
to show great competitive
spirit and success. They were
participating in 16 disciplines,
including water polo, volleyball,
taekwondo, table tennis,
kickboxing, karate, judo, futsal,
football, chess, beach handball,
beach volleyball, 3x3 basketball


and badminton forming a total
number of 295 participants.
The athletes coming from 40
different universities in Ukraine,
formed a number of 136 men
and 98 women competitors
and 60 officials. There were 61
teams competing, winning 19
gold medals, 25 silver medals
and 17 bronze medals.

During the European
Universities Games 2022 in
Lodz, representatives of the
European University Sports
Association (EUSA) – President
Mr Adam Roczek and Secretary
General Mr Matjaž Pečovnik;
the International University
Sports Federation (FISU) –
Acting President Mr Leonz Eder

and Vice President Mr Marian
Dymalski and the representative
from the State Ministry of
Education and Science from
Ukraine – State Secretary Mr
Serhiy Zakharin, met on July 17.

Among the topics discussed
were the enormous help and
sense of solidarity with Ukraine,
making sure that the University
sport family demonstrated
support, collaboration and
solidarity, to make sure that
Ukrainian athletes have the
chance to be part of the
games as every other athlete
coming from all over Europe.
Mr Zakharin, expressed his
gratitude towards EUSA, EUSA
Members and the Organising

Committee for their devotion
and effort they have put to
make the participation for
the Ukrainian athletes on this
edition of the Games possible.

At the official EUSA reception,
Mr Zakharin was also able to
address the representatives of
other national university sports
associations, thanking them for
their support.

We would also like to take this
opportunity to thank all our
donors for their continuous
support and contribution to
move university sport field
forward and help in our
members in need.
