didn’t overpower the space, while
the floorboards were painted a space-
enhancing white. ‘Practical painted boards
are a great money-saving option, but do
be prepared for some hard work,’ warns
Laura. ‘It took me several attempts to get
them filled and sanded.’

STEP FOURA thermal-lined sleep-
inducing blackout Roman blind was fitted
at the window, and a handy shelf was added
above the bed to house bedtime books
and an alarm clock. A string of fairy lights,
which doubles up as a clever photo display,

and a fun neon sign complement a pendant

fitting brought from the couple’s previous

home. A trip to IKEA also resulted in the

charming rabbit stickers that run around

the base of the room while bird handles,

sourced online, complete the cupboards.

However, it’s actually a bentwood chair

that is Laura’s favourite find. ‘I spotted

it abandoned in the street and use it to

keep the floor clear of everyday clutter,’

she smiles, once again ensuring that this

pretty new-look room now works for both

Ania and her parents. YH
