with colour

lmost three years ago Lucy and Ben
Parsons arrived in the tiny village
of Delly End in Oxfordshire – after
busy lives in London and Los Angeles.
Once daughter Kitty arrived, the couple
decided it was time to settle down in the
UK – and indeed, soon after they moved
into their new home little Tilo was born.
Their first impression of the house, built

in 1973, was one of purple walls and several
different coloured carpets – one of them
pink – all laid on concrete screed. Grey floor
tiles welcomed visitors at the front door
and, as for the bathrooms, they were rather
dated with varnished brown wood. ‘There
were lots of little alcoves everywhere, too,’
remembers Lucy. The previous owner had
been there for years and seemed to have

The table in the dining area came
from eBay and the Ercol chairs from
John Lewis. The IKEA light fitting
complements the The Rug Seller mat.
‘It’s acrylic so we can wipe it down,
ideal when two children are eating,’
says Lucy
