Southwest Art – August 2019

Ann Huston

Huston's pastel paintings evoke a place apart from the viewers modern world. Her meandering roads draw us in and lead us to a
destination, much anticipated, but out of our immediate vision. Enter the room or landscape, spare in details, resonating with Spirit.
Inspiration is derived from the Northern New Mexico landscape, the high altitude light, the old adobes, and the mysteries surrounding
the old places. Ann captures the scene on location, writing notes on her canvas, noting the essence of what she is sensing - almost
as if poetry. 'Mesa Road', Black Mesa, is one such place. Limited Edition Fine Art Prints are available by visiting the Artist's website;
annhustonstudio.com and fi neartnewmexico.com. Representation: Ann Huston Studio & DAFA Gallery, Taos. cMesa Road, pastel, 24 x 30.

and quiet shadows help defi ne the delicate elegance and
precision of dressage. c Taylor at Ten, graphite, 20 x 14.
