ince marryingPrince Harry,
Duchess Meghan has ruffled
feathers with her outspoken
personality and “difficult”
behavior. But after
welcoming son Archie on
May 6, royal watchers hoped that the
new mom would change her ways and
quietly settle into palace life. So far, that
hasn’t been the case.
On July 4, Meghan drew major
backlash at Wimbledon for her tight
security and “no photo” policy.
“Everyone said that she was an absolute
nightmare,” says a palace insider, noting
that the Suits alum also reportedly
broke dress code by wearing jeans to
the prestigious tennis tournament. Two
days later she faced criticism again, not
only from the public, but also from
members of the royal family for making
Archie’s christening a private event.
“Prince William and Duchess Kate
weren’t happy,” spilled a confidant,
noting that the pair also find it
“ridiculous” that Meghan and Harry are
keeping the infant’s godparents a secret.
“They hold Meghan responsible for all
this. They think she’s going overboard.”
But it seems the Duchess of Sussex
isn’t the only one to blame. “She’s not
the devil. Harry has played a big part in
creating these problems,” the palace
insider tells OK!, explaining that the
prince, 34, has “dismally failed” to
school his American wife, 37, on the
intricacies of the Firm. “He’s never been
a fan of royal protocol and has spent
much of his life rebelling against it.”
Plus, it was Meghan’s outgoing nature
and strong-willed ways that “made
Harry fall in love with her in the first

place. The last thing he wants is for her
to tone it down just to fit in with British
traditionalists,” adds the insider.
“Meghan probably doesn’t even realize
the magnitude of her actions.”

A DIFFERENT DIRECTION
Prior to their 2011 wedding, William,
37, sat Kate, also 37, down and educated
her on the Windsors’ tight rules, like
living modestly in the eyes of English
taxpayers. But before Harry married
Meghan, he did the opposite. “He
promised her that she’d want for
nothing for the rest of her life, no
matter the cost,” says the palace
insider, adding that the California
native took him at his word. “Meghan
blew through millions renovating their
home [Frogmore Cottage] and
dropped serious cash on a designer

wardrobe.” But she had “no idea” that
her spending would raise so many
eyebrows. “In British society, you
should never be seen acting above your
station in life,” notes the insider, “even
if you’re royal.”
Instead of guiding his wife, Harry
lets Meghan do whatever she wants.
And when she gets herself in trouble,
“he just gets angry at whoever is
criticizing her, which makes things
worse,” says the insider. “It’s pushed
away their family, friends and even
their aides — leaving Meghan that
much more isolated than she already
was.” But don’t expect the duchess to
go out of her way to get people to like
her: “No advice or wisdom will
change Meghan,” says a second
insider. “She’s very headstrong and
doesn’t like to be told what to do.”

O

n July 10, Meghan and Kate
were seen cheering on
their husbands at a charity
polo match, but their chilly behavior
suggests they’re back on bad terms.
While there were reports the ladies
had called a truce prior to Archie’s
birth, “it was painfully obvious they
can’t stand each other. They barely
spoke and looked miserable,” says
an insider. “Kate hoped they’d bond
after Meghan became a mom, but
she can’t get her head around her
sister-in-law’s ego or diva behavior.”

ROYAL RULE BREAKER
Meghan was criticized for her actions at Wimbledon (left) and for
keeping Archie’s July 6 christening from the public.

FEUDING AGAIN?
