BOOK PREVIEW

After feeling neglected on
Mother’s Day, empty nesters
Carol (Bassett), Gillian
(Arquette) and Helen (Huffman)
take a road trip to New York
City to surprise their adult sons.
However, the suburbanites get
more than they bargained for
when they realize that showing
up unannounced and meddling

in their boys’ personal lives
won’t exactly bring them closer
together. Throughout their
bumpy journey, the women come
to terms with the fact that it’s
time to find their own happiness
and identities outside of their
children. But luckily for them,
there’s some solace — and fun —
in doing it together.

“The essence
of the movie
will still be
intact,” Kaling
says of the
remake.

There’s never been any love lost
between federal agent Luke Hobbs
(Johnson) and former assassin
Deckard Shaw (Statham), but in
the Fast & Furious characters’
first spinoff, the dueling duo put
their differences aside to take on
an opponent with more power
than they have combined. The
unlikely pair are forced to merge

their strengths and wits after
learning that Brixton Lore (Elba),
a “cyber-genetically enhanced”
villain, is planning to release a
biothreat that could destroy the
world. The former foes will have
to do whatever it takes to save
the innocent — even if that means
admitting they’re a mightier force
together than they are apart.
