Don’t

leave!

D

ominic has been frosty
towards his mum Carole
Copeland ever since finding
out his birth mother
was actually medic
Ange Godard.
As he still won’t
let her speak to him,
this week Carole

(Julia Deakin) says she’s quitting as
Holby’s receptionist and moving
abroad! Later, as Dom agrees to
hear her out, can they reunite?
‘Dom and Carole always had a
strong bond,’ says David Ames,
who plays him. ‘This explores the
idea you don’t have to be blood to
be a mother. It’s a role you take
on, the love you give and the
relationship you build.’ n

Disaster at the mine!

A

t the end of last week’s episode,
the Poldarks and Enyses were
relieved to be back safely on
Cornish soil after dodging menace
and danger in London.
But Cornwall isn’t free from peril
either, and this week a mine collapse
sees Ross risk everyone’s lives on
a mission to save
20 trapped workers.
Egged on by Ned
Despard, Ross goes
against his better
judgment after a
disastrous rock fall at
George Warleggan’s
Wheal Plenty mine
and enlists Dr Dwight
Enys and brothers
Sam and Drake Carne
to join a rescue party.
But with the main
shaft completely
blocked and Ned
needing dynamite to break through,
it’s touch and go from the start...
‘The stakes are so high,’ says
Luke Norris, who plays Dr Dwight.
‘Dwight is quite angry with Ross
because he’s putting himself and
everyone around him in danger.’

George himself is unaware of the
goings-on at his mine because his
uncle Cary has locked him in his
bedroom, believing him to be mad
and not just grief-stricken over
Elizabeth’s death.

Daredevil
Meanwhile, as the
mineworkers are
hauled out, the
doctor gets to work
saving lives. But not
everyone survives, and
the daredevil rescue leaves
Dwight furious with Ross.
‘For the first time,
their friendship is
tested,’ says Luke.
‘It’s partly because
Ross is jeopardising
Demelza’s happiness and
Dwight thinks she deserves
better treatment.
‘Dwight and Ross have
never had any animosity in
four series, so to get a bit of
head-to-head was good!’ n
