Canon to launch an ultra-
compact satellite

anon Electronics Inc. a
consolidated subsidiary
of Canon Inc. producing
components for digital cameras

waiting for the launch of its ultra
small-sized satellite, CE-SAT-I,
from the Satish Dhawan Space
Center in India. The ultra-compact
satellite CE-SAT-I measures
50x50x85 cm and weighs 65 kg,
mounted with Canon EOS 5D
Mark II. The satellite can detect
objects on the earth measuring
1 square meter from as high as
500 km. The company does not
elaborate the objectives of the
satellite business but a guess is
the sale of satellite images with
analyzed data as well as the
components and the satellite.
And it has an ambitious target to
launch 100 units of satellites a
year. The data application is to be
used for remote sensing, which
is the most promising space
business on foreign markets.
This ultra-small satellite will cost
1 billion yen or less, so it will
be possible to build a network
of the telecommunications
satellite enabling phone calls
to worldwide. Another target
is to sell the satellite in the
���������������������������
and governments. The company
has succeeded in developing
around 60% of the components
in-house such as telescopes and
magnetorquers and is now under
development of the rest 40%
in order to collect know-how
of manufacturing and reduce
production costs.

otorola announced
the launch of its new
smartphone - Moto Z2
Play and also Moto Mods. The
Moto Z2 Play features a thinner
and lighter design, combined with
faster performance. It features
a 13.97cm (5.5”) Full HD Super
AMOLED display and is powered
by 2.2GHz octa-core processor.
The 5MP front camera of Moto
Z2 Play features 10x optical
zoom and dual autofocus pixel
technology. It also features laser
autofocus which has an expanded
range of up to 5 meters. The
night display feature of Moto Z2
Play automatically adjusts the
screen to warmer tones at night,
reducing the blue light. The new
instant queries in Moto Voice
provides helpful information to
the user like weather or calendar
updates. It is equipped with

reader which enables the user to
navigate using
only one button
to quickly
move through
multiple
screens. Moto
Z2 Play will
be available in
India at INR
27,999 across all
leading mobile
stores as well as
on Flipkart.
