super serums
Serums are at the forefront of drone
cosmetics, which makes sense, as they are
layered on post-cleansing and pre-
moisturising, so are perfectly placed to do
targeted work. Elemis Ultra Smart Pro-
Collagen Complex 12 Serum (1) (£210,
elemis.com) comes with a hefty price tag but
also a hefty promise – great results were
reported from the brand’s clinical trials in just
two weeks. It delivers a youth-boosting hit of
hyaluronic acid, which hydrates cells at their
core, as well as helping them maintain
upgraded moisture levels. A multi-mix of red,
green and brown algae – both fresh and sea
water varieties – is also present, helping
smooth and plump up fine lines and restore
skin’s natural balance. And, of course, those
all-important powerhouse peptides are
there to oversee the drone zone side
of things.
Improving elasticity and
firmness is also the name of
the game with Espa
Tri-Active Advanced
ProBiome Serum (2)
(£100, espaskincare.
com), which harnesses
drone-skilled peptides
alongside skin-friendly
peony and Chinese
butterfly bush, aka the
sprawling, purple-hued
shrub Buddleia. There’s
also a moisturiser (£85)
and an eye cream (£65).
And speaking of eyes,
there’s also the Skyn
Iceland Brightening Eye
Serum (3) (£30, cultbeauty.co.
uk) containing drone tech.
This advanced eye primer contains
encapsulated peptides to combat crows
feet, and potent antioxidants and algae
extracts to hydrate, tone and repair.

all-Day Coverage
As well as supercharged serums, your
morning and evening skincare choices have
been given the beauty drone treatment.
Dermalogica Prisma Protect SPF 30 (4)
(£58, dermalogica.co.uk) helps create a
radiant complexion thanks to light-activated
chlorella vulgaris – a green microalgae
that’s delivered directly to where it’s needed

  • and also offers UV protection. While for
    nighttime, Murad Night Fix Enzyme

Treatment (5) (£70, murad.co.uk) gives you a
dose of drone tech with a trio of enzymes,
purified from green and red algae, that
detoxify skin cells to repair daily damage
from pollution, UV and stress. It’s designed to
be used over the top of your night cream and
helps treat signs of sleep deprivation.
Drone tech can also help when it comes to
acne and blemishes. Pop on Zit Sticka Killa
(6) (£27, zitsticka.co.uk), which uses 24
self-dissolving ‘microdarts’ which prick the
affected area with a slight tingling sensation,
before the active products penetrate beyond
the epidermis, straight into the spot to kill
bacteria and reduce the size and redness of
the blemish.
And newly launched It Cosmetics
Confidence In A Neck Cream (7) (£42,
itcosmetics.co.uk) combines drone tech
with a seaweed extract to firm up skin
below the chin.
‘This technology will be here
to stay,’ says Candice. ‘We
demand so much more from
our skincare products;
brands are pushed to
achieve better and
better results. Any
technology that
accelerates results will
be pivotal in product
development.’ So, get
into the drone zone
now and then watch
this space for more
youth-boosting products
soon to land on beauty
counters near you! TS

Peptides are

what power

new drone

technology.

The word

peptide

is derived

meaning ‘to

digest’!

The science
pa rT...
Beauty drone technology is very much set to
change the face of skincare and it’s all powered
by proteins. ‘Most drone technology incorporates
the use of ligand peptides,’ explains Dr Granite.
‘These are small amino acids containing molecules
that work to signal pathways within cells, helping
direct delivery of ingredients to specific targets. For
example, a product may include an active ingredient
bound to encapsulating molecules that fit only into
receptors on collagen-producing cells (fibroblasts),
just like a key fitting into a lock. This
technology allows the active ingredient to
be delivered to its intended target
where it is needed most.’
