Sheer Exhilaration A familiar face

of British television catches the racing

bug in Lamborghini’s Huracán EVO

hen you think of race tracks
and fast luxury cars, you
can’t help but think of men.
The idea of the racing alpha male is an
archetype that has long been
reinforced by the media and
immortalised on the big screen. So you
can imagine my surprise when I
received a call from Vanity Fair inviting
me to participate in an inclusive driving

shoot with Lamborghini at Brands
Hatch. Perhaps, I thought to myself,
racing doesn’t have to be the preserve
of “boys” who like expensive toys, or
Vin Diesel wannabees and rev heads.
On paper, maybe I seemed a possible
fit for the part: I have a clean, points-
free licence , but this is not because I’m
an expert driver but rather because I
am the most carefully slow/annoying

driver around. I was excited and
petrified in equal measure at the
thought of test driving Lamborghini’s
latest model: the Huracán EVO. It
accelerates from zero to 100km/h in
2.9 seconds, has a top speed in excess of
325km/h and will only set you back a
cool £165,256.
