Apartfromafewpolishedpiecessuchas
themastercylinder,thereisnochromeor
engravingfeatured.Tobehonest,it
doesn'tneeditasthepaintworkdoesthe
talkinghere.Evenitemssuchasthe
enginecases,whichareusuallyahaven
forchromeandpolishing,received
metallicanthracitepowdercoating
instead.Eventheheadlamprimhashad
thesametreatment.
Therearesomesubtlefinishesthough,
suchasthepetrolandchokelevers,as
wellasthemissinggrillattherearofthe
frame,replacedinsteadbyasetofholes
coveredwithameshtofinishoff.
Thesamekindofworkcontinues
underneaththepanels,andtherehas
definitelybeenalotofthoughtgoingon,
withColintryingtodosomethingdifferent
towhatisusuallyseen.Thereisno
doubtingColin’sLambrettabuildingskill,
ashisworkiscompletedtoaveryhigh
standard.Theredoesn'tseemtobeone
component,noteventhesmallestpart,
thathasn'thadagreatdealofcareand
attentionshowntoitduringthe
buildingprocess.
Solepurpose
WhenbuildingacustomLambretta,it's
beensaidtimeandtimeagainabouthow
difficultitistodosomethingnew.Ifyou
aredoinganextrememodificationthan
possiblyit'sabiteasier,butafull-bodied
customLambretta,notso.Colinhastwo
obsessionsinlife–LambrettaandAdidas.
Withcarefulthoughtandplanning,he
hascombinedthetwoandthe
photographshereshowhehasexecutedit
toperfection.Sometimesit’stooeasyto
haveathemewhichyouarepassionate
about,andtolosethatmessagein
translation.Notsowith‘SoleRacer’,a
uniquetakeonaniconicbrand,whichis
refreshingtotheworldofcustomscooters.
I’mprettysureColinhasnoplansfor
anythingelseatthemoment,butone
mustwonderwhathemightdonextif

Hydraulic disc brake... life-saver
By using off-white for
the logos they don’t take
to much attention from

while at the same time
