barber and hair stylist, Phil Ford,
completed hair-cuts at no cost, with all
donations being made to charity.Also,
local artist and ‘Soulie’,TimRichardson,
who was supported by his 13-year-old
daughter,Oonagh, moved inside and
outside the venue, sketching dancers and
scooters. As the evening moved towards
the 6pm watershed, children and
scooters were taken home and the
evening’sentertainment began to step
up. Many of the all-day event goers
remained at the venue and they were now
joined byasteady flow of evening event
goers who were ready to join in with
the music and take part in the
organised activities.
Midway through the evening, Jo herself
stepped up to the decks and delivered a
smooth set of ‘Steppin Up’, ‘Printunes’,
one of their favourites beingTony Galla’s
‘In Love’. Later, the musicpaused for a
few moments to allow the charity raffle to
take place. DJTigga did an admirable job
on the mic and was assisted by Jo, with
John Weston spinning the tombola. “We
had lots of brilliant raffle prizes, which
Heart Research UK Midlands, friends,
family,DJs,Bournbrook Social Club, local
shops and businesses, Urban Scooters
and the B62 Scooter Club had generously
donated. After the prizes had been given
out the music stepped up again and
continued passed the scheduled closing
time,” explained Jo.

“At the age of 47, just three days after
our 17th wedding anniversary,Prin
suddenly passed away,after 26 years
together.Idon’t think thatalot of people
realise that heart problems can affect
people in their 40s and also the ‘classic’
symptoms are not always there. The
WoodlandTrust donation will go to
dedicating an area of local woodland in
Prin’smemory; he’d always hoped that
one day we would have our own bit of
woodland. Also, I’m giving Prin’sbrother,
Dylan, Prin’sscooter.
“Dylan asked ifIwas sure he should
have it andIsaid, ‘Yes, absolutely,aslong
as you ride it regularly.Prin built the
scooter to be ridden, and as he’snot here
Ithink you’re the best person to ride it. I
know that if you have it Prin would have
liked that, andIthink that it wouldbe
more meaningful to Prin’smemory than
me keeping it in the workshop as
amemorial’.”

Money raised
The PrinFest all-dayer was all about
celebrating Prin’slife with scooters, his
family and friends, and celebrating what
would have been his 50th birthday. The
event raised £1,830.19 for Heart
Research UK Midlands and the
WoodlandTrust.
