The rest of my column is covered in my
video. Though I can sum up by saying that
I am pleased to see that it’s common place
now to see a wet/dry blend on drive pedals
suited to bass. Actually, the wet/dry blend
is very useful for guitarists too as it allows
for serial stacking of drive pedals to create a
thick sound but at the same time maintain
the clarity of lower gain effects proceeding
the pedal in question to bleed through often
helping note clarity.
I chose three drive pedals that I know are
very well regarded in our bass community:
Considering the fact that two of these are
signature pedals, maybe I should have
popped Jon Stockman’s Darkglass model
in to the mix instead for fun, but hey, I
think we’ve covered what I needed to in this
column with the fine examples on the table.
Happy exploring and see you in the next
column!
