Wood Sandpiper
Binomial Name: Tringa glareola
The Wood Sandpiper is a common migratory bird in Bangladesh. The primary habitatmigrates to our country in winter, needing food and warmth from Scandinavia and Siberia.
During this time, they can be found in extensive marshes, swamplands, lakes, mudflats,creeks, paddy fields, mangrove forests, and other aquatic birds. They feed by inserting
their beaks into the water and mud top layer. Their diet includes aquatic insects, small fish,tiny frogs, and seeds. During the breeding season in May-July, they make nests of moss
and leaves in the marshes of Scandinavia and Siberia under cover of thick foliage and lay
eggs.
