Little Tern
Binomial Name: Sterna albifrons
The Little Tern is a small seabird. Although it is a permanent resident of Bangladesh, it isa rare sighting bird. Found in rivers and sea-coasts of Barisal, Chittagong, Dhaka, Khulna
and Rajshahi. It usually roams in small, isolated groups or flocks along coasts, rivers,freshwater lakes, salt marshes or reservoirs. Catch prey by flying slightly above shallow
water and jumping into the water. Small fish, shrimp, and aquatic insects are their favouritefoods. They lay their eggs by burrowing in the sand during the breeding season from May
to June.
