Grey-headed Fish Eagle
Binomial Name: Ichthyophaga ichthyaetus
The Grey-headed Fish Eagle is an uncommon resident bird of Bangladesh. It usually roamssingly or in pairs in estuaries, reservoirs, slow-moving rivers, mangrove forests and near-
shore water bodies in Chittagong, Dhaka, Khulna and Sylhet. It usually sits on trees,searches for prey in the water, and suddenly grabs the prey with its claws and eats it. Food
includes fish, frogs, snakes, birds and small mammals. Their breeding season is fromNovember to January. At this time, they make a nest like a loft with branches on the big
tree and lay their eggs.
