Mangrove Whistler
Binomial Name: Pachycephala grisola
A small songbird, occasionally making a high-pitched whistle while singing. The bird iscalled the Mangrove Whistler, and seeing it is like winning the lottery. They are very reserved
and shy in behavior. Mangrove Whistler is a rare resident bird of Bangladesh. It is not foundoutside the Sundarban in Bangladesh. It has a range from the Indian subcontinent to
Southeast Asia. They roam alone or in pairs in mangrove forests. Searches for food byflying on tree trunks and branches. Their main food is soft-bodied insects on plant leaves.
During the breeding season from April to July, they make nests by attaching small sticks
to spider webs in the thin branches of trees in the Sundarban and laying eggs.
