Asian Pied Starling
Binomial Name: Sturnus contra
The Asian Pied Starling is a common resident bird of Bangladesh. This Starling usuallyroams in all types of forests including agricultural fields, drains, sewage disposal areas,
mangrove forests. They are primarily gregarious birds, often in small family groupssometimes joining other Starlings to form large noisy flocks. There is almost constant
bickering between their groups. Although insects and earthworms are their main food, theyalso eat nectar from flowers or date palms. During the nesting season from March to
September, they build their nests in tree branches.
