Greater Short-toed Lark
Binomial Name: Calandrella brachydactyla
The Greater Short-toed Lark is a rare migratory insectivorous bird of Bangladesh. It is foundon coasts, paddy fields, and sandy river banks of Chittagong, Dhaka, Khulna, Rajshahi, and
Sylhet divisions in winter. Often in pairs or isolated flocks, they search for food by walking
on the ground, stomping, and digging. Seeds, dung beetles, small snails, and caterpillarsare their favorite food. During the breeding season from May to July, they lay their eggs in
a hole surrounded by small plants.
