Northern Pintail
Binomial Name: Anas acuta
The Northern Pintail is a common migratory bird in Bangladesh. They are seen in the waterbodies of all the country's divisions during winter. The Northern Pintail can fly quickly and
move very quickly on the ground. Good at swimming. Ducks live in wide-open bodies ofwater or marshes but usually nest on the ground some distance from the water. Floating
plants are their main diet, but they also eat small invertebrates during breeding. They livein groups during the non-breeding season when other species of ducks also roam in the
group. Breeding season is from April to September. At this time, they build nests and lay
eggs in the humid areas of Mongolia to the north of Siberia.
