The Gray-capped Pygmy Woodpecker is an uncommon resident bird of Bangladesh. Theyroam the country's deciduous, evergreen, and mangrove forests alone or in pairs. In the
Sundarban, they are seen wandering around with Small Minivets, Speckled Piculet, andVelvet-fronted Nuthatch. They jump and walk. The bark of the tree, wrapped in dried dead
branches, collects food by stinging. The diet list includes ants, insects, soft fruit peels, andflower honey. Their breeding season is from April to May. At this time, they lay eggs by
digging holes in the steep thin branches.
