Craft Stamper – July 2019

You Inspire Me

By Beverley Brown

Having used the bees already I decided to
use the butterfly on this project. I wanted
them to work as a collection, so I kept to
the same colour scheme of yellow, pink
and light turquoise.

I created a background with watercolours.
Still a novice when it comes to
watercolours, I simply saturated my piece
of watercolour card with water, then
started with the yellows, pinks and working
down to the turquoise adding the colour in
a random way to achieve a painterly effect.
Once dry, I lightly stamped the French
Script background only selecting areas
of text that stood out to me. This created
a faded, aged look. To add to this further,
I added some splashes of paint over the
background. The butterflies were stamped
and embossed, and I decided to use the
floral outline stamps to create a frame
highlighting sections of the butterflies and
background. I added hand drawn lines to
bring everything together. Staying with
the splattered watercolour spots I added
lots of tiny Nuvo Drops to add detail and
enhance the design.

I mounted the finished design to create
a lovely display piece, a gift for someone
who inspires my creativity.
