1 Assemble, glue and paint the boxes
white, all bar one side. Fill the box with
something solid to make a surface to
stamp on.
2 Stamp designs in black all the way
round the large box. If it goes wrong
just clean off quickly and start again!
3 To stamp with the ColorSticks, ink up
image with VersaMark inkpad.
to finish the project: Spray the boxes with varnish to seal the ColorSticks. Add all the metal embellishments and the cotton reel at
the top. Attach the top box to middle layer using a brad so that it can turn round. Add the box bases and stick the middle box to the
lower box.
4 Colour directly onto the stamp with the
ColorSticks, mixing and blending as you
go.
5 Stamp directly onto box side. Build up
images. For a watercolour effect, spritz
stamp lightly first.
6 Overstamp each side with the clock
faces stamp and add text.
Step-by-step... Clockmaking with ColorSticks
7 Colour the large box images with the
ColorSticks. The painted surface allows
you to blend quite easily.
8 Decorate the box for the top in the
same way. Fit the clock mechanism
into the back.
9 Punch a hole in the front to allow the
spindle to come through, and fit on the
hands. Make a door for the back of the
box to allow access to the battery.
