“The idea behind my journal came

from looking at old photos of colourful

beach huts in Norfolk. I loved the

vastness of the sky, the closeness of

the beach huts to the beach, the deck

chairs. Just like time had stood still!”

Beach Huts

Create an evocative
journal cover with a
timeless beach hut
theme! By Fiona Potter

W

hen I go away, usually to
Cornwall, I always take a
journal and a limited palette
of paints, pens, a few stamps, mini
VersaFine ink pads and minimal tools. I
save entry tickets, café receipts, bottle
labels etc to include in my journal.
I received my Sizzix Bigz Eileen Hull Wrap
Around Journal die and planned a beach
theme journal for this years holiday! I
pulled together a few of my favourite go to
products: Seth Apter’s Baked Texture and
Velvet powders, Sweet Dixie Beach Hut
stamps, PaperArtsy Fresco and DecoArt
fluid acrylic paints, some VersaFine ink
pads and some art and craft papers.
I did a base coat of gesso and paint layers
on both sides, letting each side dry before
starting the other, which I recommend
before starting the embossing. While
they dry you can start making your
embellishments.
