Craft Stamper – July 2019

(Barry) #1

Summer in the Tropics

By Christine Candau

Nothing says tropical like palm trees, so I
just had to use the Crafty Individuals Tropical
Sunset stamp, which I partially stamped by
inking only the trees. I kept the rest of the card
simple adding only the cluster of hibiscus
flowers and leaves die cuts to the composition.

To complement the image I matted the panel
first with pink card, then red and white designer
paper, leaving a narrow border on the white
card base.

Botanical Brights
By Jane Taylor
I was inspired by the idea of lush tropical foliage and flowers, and
knew straight away I wanted to include the toucan from the Paradise
stamp set by Uniko against this sort of background. The layering of the
elements evolved as I went along and the scene took shape.
I started by stamping the background leaves in a curve, in the corner of
a square of white card and then placed some extra hand cut leaves on
top without gluing them down. I then stamped all the smaller flowers
to fill in the gaps. I stamped the toucan and hibiscus flower and hand
cut them out, colouring the toucan’s beak in exotic colours! It was at
this point I decided to raise some of the elements using foam pads. I
realised if I wanted to add a sentiment it would be better to do it before
the elements were stuck down. The sentiment was stamped and the
white card adhered to the Blackberry Bliss card base. Then I went to
town adding all the leaves using a double layer of foam pads for the
toucan and hibiscus flower to raise them even higher.
