Botanical Brights
By Elly Booij
I stamped the flowers onto watercolour
paper, starting with the lightest colour and
working through to the darkest. I used a green
colouring pencil to add colour to the lightest
parts of the leaves and a fineliner to add
detail. I then sponged the background and
stamped the letters with Distress ink. For my
card base I used photo paper and sprayed
this with Distress spray. I cut off a little piece
for my sentiment, and layered it onto red
paper before adding it to my base card.

Trio of Flowers

By Heather Mitchell

As soon as I saw the brief I knew I would
use these gorgeous quirky flower stamps
from Visible Image! Instead of stamping the
flowers in black, I wanted to add a hint of
glitz to the card so chose to heat emboss the
flowers in copper which adds a lovely warmth.
By using an embossing pen, I was able to add
extra splats around the flowers which helps
break up the background. The flowers and
background have both been painted using
watercolours and the flowers, once dry, have
had white highlights added with a Posca pen.
Instead of using a traditional grass stamp,
I’ve used the DNA stamp from the ‘Creative
Chaos’ set, and after masking off the flower
heads, I added polka dots using the stamp
from ‘Set The Tone’. To finish, I’ve added more
highlights to the text before matting onto
black card and a card blank.
