Puzzle

It Out

Create upcycled art from a discarded puzzle piece!
By Clare Lloyd

M

y project was really inspired by a social media group swap I took part in
earlier in the year. The theme was jigsaw puzzle pieces, and so I decided to
march off to my local charity shop in search of inspiration.
I was looking for large children’s puzzle pieces, which would give me plenty of space
to create on. I tested out some ideas and soon discovered that my shiny bright puzzle
piece wasn’t going to cover with just one or two coats of paint so preparation was key!
Out came the sanding block and then some gesso for extra tooth. I know I could have
just covered the pieces with paper or cardstock but I wasn’t going to give up that easily
and wanted a nice white surface to work on.
After completing my swap I was left with all the other pieces to do something with, and
they became the inspiration for this project. I know I can create much larger surfaces
to work on by joining the puzzle pieces together in the future!

tip...
I love to write out the quote
that I plan to use for my
project as inspiration. It also
helps to make sure you are
spelling it correctly when
stamping!
