1 Adhere pieces of book pages to your background. Use soft
body gel medium as your adhesive. Change the direction
of the text while you add the pieces in for extra interest and
less readability.

2 Let the gel medium layer dry and then cover the project with
a layer of white gesso. You can play with the thickness of
the layer by blocking some of the words and lines totally
and letting other to peek through.

3 Finish with layers coming on top. Add watercolours,
stamping or make a full dimensional assemblage on top!
This technique is the perfect start to any project.

1 Adhere a few pieces of the book paper to your background.
Use paper glue as it’s less likely to get your needle all sticky.
If you feel brave, you can also just add the papers on top
without adhesive.
2 Put the project under your sewing machine and stitch a
shape. You can even use free motion machine embroidery
to this. Try not to make the stitches too close to each other
so the paper won’t break.
3 Highlight your design using different colouring mediums like
watercolour, gesso and pencil. Let the project dry and then
very carefully rip the excess paper off.

technique 4:

Criss-cross Collage

This might be the way I use book
pages the most. They make such a
perfect base for any project!

technique 5:
applique, anyone?
A few stitches can make a world
of difference. Before making your
masterpiece, make sure that the
paper is not too brittle for this
technique!
