THE FIVE BEST PLAYER MOVES

1. The Josh Rosen trade (April 26): This was
   the subject of our page 3 column in the last issue,
   and the premise remains the same: The Dolphins
   absolutely did the right thing is jumping at the
   chance of landing a franchise quarterback at a
   reasonable trade cost and favorable salary.


2. The Xavien Howard contract extension (May
   9): Howard clearly is one of the cornerstones of
   this team and the Dolphins simply couldn’t take
   the chance of letting him get to free agency
   (though they still could have franchised him).


3. Exercising the option on Laremy Tunsil’s
   contract (April 18): Given that he’s gotten better
   every year since arriving in 2016, it pretty much
   was a no-brainer that the Dolphins would pick up
   the option on the fifth year of Tunsil’s contract,
   which will keep him in Miami at least through the
   2020 season.


4. The Ryan Tannehill trade (March 15): Since it
   pretty much was accepted that there was no way
   Tannehill would be back, being able to get a 2020
   fourth-round pick for him in the trade with Ten-
   nessee was nice work.


5. The DeVante Parker contract extension
   (March 12): The Dolphins’ ability to get Parker to
   agree to restructure his contract gives them (and
   him) another opportunity to see if he can stay
   healthy and deliver on his huge potential.
