THECrosslandXisVauxhall’s smallestSUV offeringand provides
would-be AstraorCorsabuyerswithafashionable alternative.
It’s actually onlyslightly smallerthanthe MokkaX,standing
6cmshorterand 2cmwider,and itmakesthevery most of its interior
space.Itcompeteswith theRenaultCaptur andPeugeot 2008, and
although it’salittlemoreexpensivethan the twoFrenchmodels, the
Vauxhall’sgenerousstandardequipment meansit’sgoodvalue.
Thecarcomeswitharangeof impressivepetrol and diesel engines,
hascomfortableseats,excellent interior proportionsand aneasy-to-
usedashboard. Other positivesincludeagenerouslistofstandardkit,
excellent infotainment andadecent boot that measures410 litres.
Vauxhalloffersslidingbackseats thatcanincreasethisto520 litres,
while foldingthem flatcreates1,255 litresof space.
Yousit reasonably high in theCrosslandXcomparedto a
conventionalhatchbackand thewindscreenis large, soforward
visibilityis excellent.Therear is alsoeasytosee out of,savefor
fairlysignificantblindspotscreatedbythewide pillars between
therear doorsand the boot; these meanyouneedto takeextra
care whenchanginglanesonthe motorwayorataroundabout.
