AS its first all-electric productioncar, the Audi e-tronis alandmark

forthe brand. Itjoinsthe electric SUVmarket pioneeredbytheTesla

The e-tron sharesits lookswith theconventionally poweredQ5and

Q7 SUVs,butalthough it’s nearlyasbigasthe Q7, the e-tron doesn’t

look enormousontheroad.The SUVpackagewillbewelcomedby

families–there’splenty ofroom insideforfiveadults, andapretty

generousboot.Thoselessconcernedbythe practicalitiesoffamily life,

meanwhile,might preferto concentrateonthe e-tron’ssuperb interior

design, whichborrowsheavilyfromAudi’s flagship A8saloon.

The e-tronisn’t shortonpace,with upto 402bhp offered in short

eight secondbursts. However, despitecarefully managedweight

distribution,awealth of drivingmodesandcleverair suspension,

theweighty e-tronisn’tparticularlyrewardingtodrive.

A250-mile electricrangemeansthe e-troncanfit neatly intomost

dailyroutines, while a150kWfast chargefacility meansan80%charge

in alittleoverhalf an hour–when thosechargers arriveinthe UK.

While the e-tron’sbatteryrange iseclipsedbylessexpensiverivals,

it’saveryimpressiveand approachable all-rounder nonetheless.
