HONDA’S HR-V is morecompact andsveltethanthe CR-V opposite,
with aslopingroofline, andhandles fo rthe rear doorsthatsit
seamlessl yinthe door pillars to givethe HR-V somecoupe style.
The HR-V is powere dby1.5-litrepetrol or 1.6-litrediesel engines
and allare front-wheel drive.Despiteits appearance, the HR-V is
relativelybigfor acrossover, givin gownersamorespacious, practical
carthanaNissan Juke, forexample. Those in theback will thankyou.
Honda’sfamous‘Magic Seats’ arestandard, too, allo wing you
to flip them up likecinemaseats to accommodateitems that might
otherwisebemoredifficulttoget in thecar. The HR-V has aspacious
boot that’seasytouse thankstoits shape andbigtailgate. When all
seats areinplace, the SUV provides448 litres of luggageroom, which
is fargreater thanmany of its smallcrossoverrivals. The boot lipis
pretty low, too, so gettingbulky items inside should be adoddle.
Buyershave fo ur trimlevels tochoose from, with the entry-level
modelcalled the S. The next gradeupisSE, then EX andSport, which
has amorepowerful engine.SE isour favourite, ancombine thiswith
the 1.5 i-VTECpetrol engine, whichfeelssmooth andis economical,
and youhaveastron gpackage.Stickwith amanualgearboxthough,
as the automakes the HR-V slowerand noisier.
