The i30Tourerhasthesame enginesasthe i30hatch: 1.0 and 1.4

T-GDi petrolsanda1.6 CRDi diesel in twooutputs.Economyisdecent,

with the most frugal modelmanagingupto60mpg.Performance

figuresarereasonable too,although the entry-levelpetrol enginemay

strugglewithafullcar.The i30’s drivingexperienceiscompetentrather

than thrilling. It’sexcellent on the motorway, butthesteeringfeels

artificial, so thecarisunrewardingtodriveonwindingroads.

At 602 litres,the bootis slightly down on some rivals,butthat’sstill

moreroom thanyouget in thebackof aBMW5SeriesTouring.Fold the

seats flat and there’s 1,650 litresof space.Passengerspaceis also

generous, and while therear seats in thebackof the i30hatchback

canfeel tight, they seemroomier here,with moreheadroom on offer.

Alli30scomewith air-con, LED runninglights,cruisecontrol and

electricwindows,but we’d goforSENav trimformorekit.Safetyis a

strongpoint,asalli30Tourersfeature laneassistance, auto-dipping

headlights, autonomousemergency brakingandatiredness warning.
