THE Jaguar F-Pacewasthe first SUV everbuiltbythe Britishmarque,

butitusesmuchofthetechnologyfromthe Jaguar XE and Jaguar XF

saloons, alongwith their Ingenium engines. These include 2.0-litre

petrolsproviding197 or 247bhp anda237bhp diesel thesamesize.

If fuel-efficiencyis the priority,there’sa161bhp diesel,butthe

178bhpversionis abetter enginewith onlyslightly poorer economy.

Forfastdieselfans,there’s the 3.0-litredieselwith 297bhp.Petrol

modelsare thirstier,but offerasportierfeel,with the V8supercharged

SVRabletodo0-62mph in just 4.1 seconds. Thismodelis seriously

pricey,though,weighinginatmorethan£75,000.

Despiteits appealinglyrakishexterior,the Jaguar F-Paceisremarkably

accommodatinginside and trulycandeliver on the ‘utility’ element of

‘SUV’. Front-seatoccupantshave plenty ofroomto stretchout in the

comfortableseats, while only thetallest rear passengers willfeel

hemmed in. There’sa650-litreboot that’sbigger than most rivals, and

it’seasytomakelargerwith 40:20:40split-foldingrearseats. Interior

storage is good, although thebinbetween the front seatsis abit small.
