THE seven-seatPeugeot 5008 abandonsits predecessor’s MPV

stylinginfavour ofachunkier,higher-ridingdesign. It’s pitched

at the SkodaKodiaq and NissanX-Trail,butasaseven-seater,it

Powerfor the 5008comesintheform of twopetrol engines, both

turbocharged–a128bhp 1.2-litreanda163bhp 1.6-litre–andapair

of diesels. The 1.5-litreBlueHDiwith 128bhpis the most economical,

while the 178bhp 2.0-litreisonlyavailable with an automaticgearbox.

Don’texpect drivingthrillsbehind the wheel of the 5008. It’s a

comfortablecar first andforemost,whichflattersall buttheworst

roadsthankstoits supple suspension. Just likethe 3008, the 5008

hasastriking-lookingdashboardfeaturingPeugeot’s i-Cockpit display.

Rear-seatspaceis moreofamixedbag. Goforthepanoramic

sunroof andsix-footerssittinginthe secondrowwillfind headroom

tight, while the third-rowseats areeasytoaccessbutbest reserved

forkids. Thesamecanbesaid ofmany5008 rivals,butanMPV like

the Grand Scenicis abetter bet ifyouuse seatssixand seven often.

Drop therear rowand there’savast780-litreboot,butwith allfive
