The second TVS that I’ve had for a
while now and am sad to return is
the Radeon. The Radeon is everything that it
promises to be – a simple commuter motorcycle
that will take you where you want to get to
comfortably and reliably.
Being a TVS, the reliability part of this
equation was pretty much guaranteed. But what
actually impressed me was how comfortable this

motorcycle is. The suspension is made for the
harshest of Indian conditions and that is a real
joy. Even on the worst of Mumbai’s roads, the
Radeon doesn’t disappoint.
If you’re looking for a 110cc commuter to get to
work comfortably, the Radeon is the one for you.
Best part is, you’ll probably have to refuel it only
once in your lifetime. Okay, im exaggerating. But
you know what I mean...

109.7cc, 1-cylinder, 8bhp, 8.7Nm, 4M Total mileage: 3,170km, Test kpl: 60

GOODBYE

TOPGEAR.COM → JULY 2019 93

The reason why automatic scooters are
such a rage, is convenience. Our long-
term test scooter – Hero’s Destini 125 – is as effortless
as it gets. The world’s largest two-wheeler market has
dabbled with automatic scooters before but this is its
first with a 125 cc engine – a segment that is fast gaining
prominence as many are ready to upgrade from the
usual 100 - 110 cc models. The Destini isn’t one of the
first of its kind but is well-packaged.
As its three-month stint at the TopGear Garage ends,
important that I point out what exactly worked while
living with this scooter and what didn’t.
Let me start off with its USP and unique feature – i 3 S.
While it does manage to give the bike’s fuel efficiency
capability a slight edge, more importantly, it manages to

reduce unnecessary idling emissions. While the latter is
a boon – even if the impact isn’t a big one – it requires a
little getting used to as I have mentioned earlier.
On the ride front, the front telescopic suspension
keeps it supple and pliant. The bike feels stable and
solid on the move and soaks in minor potholes easily.
Ride quality, compared to other scooters, is quite
comfortable aided by a large, flat seat.
On the design front, Hero could have been a bit more
adventurous. It is pleasant to look at but not striking.
At approximately ` 60 , 000 for this alloy-wheel
version of the Destini 125 , this Hero is good value,
especially considering that it goes about its duties
seamlessly. It may not have a lot of power but cruising
on it is calming. Peace of mind is what you can expect.
