DRIVER CPC DON’T MISS THE DEADLINE

F

or many professional truck,
bus and coach drivers in the
UK, the deadline to complete
their Driver CPC periodic
training and maintain their
current card is fast approaching.
If you haven’t already done so, you
need to make sure you’ve completed
35 hours of periodic training by
September 9, 2019.
Following the UK’s withdrawal from
the EU, professional drivers of trucks
and buses will still need a valid DCPC to
continue to operate in the UK.
DVSA has also issued a reminder that
it is illegal for professional drivers to
operate without a Driver Qualification
Card (DQC).

Finding a training course
You can find training courses by
visiting the Joint Approvals Unit for

Periodic Training (JAUPT) website
(www.jaupt.org.uk/course-search).
Bear in mind that only courses taken
with approved centres count towards
periodic training, so it’s crucial to make
sure your training will count towards
your accrued hours.

Check how much training
you’ve done
You can check how much training you’ve
already completed and when you will
get your next Driver CPC card using the
online driver enquiry service (www.gov.
uk/check-your-driver-cpc-periodic-
training-hours). You can also give your
employer temporary access to your
training record if required. To find out
more general information on the Driver
CPC, pay a visit to gov.uk’s Driver CPC
training website (www.gov.uk/transport/
driver-cpc-training).

If you miss your training
deadline
You cannot drive professionally unless
you hold a valid Driver Qualification
Card (DQC). Drivers can be fined up to
£1000 for driving professionally without
a valid DQC.
So don’t delay. The clock is ticking and
course places are booking up fast... ■
