60 > NZ HOT ROD AUGUST 2019

Matty McKnight knows how to go rounds in
Supercharged Outlaws. Graham Frawley was so
close, but Mcknight had the package to seal the deal
with a 6.386/215.24 on a 6.34, and a sharp .028 light.

Paul Mouhayet tested hard the previous weekend, and did not display his
usual 5.6-second consistency during race day eliminations. Despite losing to
eventual winner Steve Ham, Mouhayet won the Pro Slammer championship.

Steve Ham opened his bid with a top qualifying 5.701/251.63, and then
marched through the field to claim the Pro Slammer Winternationals title.

Neil Dyson mixed it up with an elite field of super consistent dragsters
in Modified. He didn’t go rounds but definitely added to the show.

The expectation of more 5.7s from Rod Harvey in Pro
Extreme didn’t eventuate. That wasn’t to say he wasn’t
spectacular in other ways, with out of shape passes.

New Zealand’s best hopes for a Kiwi winner, fell on
young Shavaun Harvey! A string of 8.9’s at 75mph saw
her contend three of the five Junior Dragster rounds.

Kellie Kidd looked to be a runaway Modified winner with a rash
of 7.5’s on 7.5 dial-ins, until the final when there was a double
breakout, and Stephan Gouws (pictured) stole the trophy.
