Aspen Technology acquires AI
company Mnubo for $78mn
Mnubo enables industrial companies to assemble and deploy AI-driven
IoT applications quickly, at enterprise scale
Aspen Technology, a global leader in
asset optimisation software, has signed
an agreement to pay $78mn to acquire
Mnubo Inc., a Montreal-based provider
of purpose-built artificial intelligence
(AI) and analytics infrastructure for the
Internet of Things (IoT).
“With the current pressures on mar-
gins, our customers need to yield higher
outputs and drive higher efficiencies
with existing assets,” said Antonio Pietri,
president and CEO of Aspen Technol-
ogy. “When expertly applied, AI offers
a significant competitive advantage in
managing operations to the limits of per-
formance without compromising safety.
Mnubo enables industrial companies
to assemble and deploy AI-driven IoT
applications quickly, at enterprise scale.
The acquisition of Mnubo is expected
to accelerate AspenTech’s vision for the
next generation of asset optimisation
solutions that combine deep process
expertise with AI and machine learn-
ing. The acquisition is expected to close
within the next five business days.
“The global adoption of AI and IoT
technologies is powering the next wave
of industrial-digital enterprises,” said
Continental introduces
radial tyre portfolio for
port applications
PRODUCT C ontinental launched its radial port
tyre portfolio, which has been developed to meet
the demands of vehicles utilised in terminal
operations.
The tyres offer low heat generation and a flat
tread contour, ensuring a high level of endurance
and mileage over long distances. It launched
of three new radial tyres for port applications
- the ContiRT20, the ContainerMaster Radial
and the StraddleMaster Radial. The tyres are
suited to various vehicle types, including heavy
forklift trucks, empty container handlers, reach
stackers, straddle carriers and terminal tractors,
amongst others.
Continental’s V.ply tyres with Port Plus
Compound, are a solution for typical pick and
stack applications. Although mobile crane type
vehicles such as reach stackers, empty container
handlers and rubber-tired gantry cranes (RTG)
need to drive short distances at low speed when
loading and unloading containers, they still have
a high load requirement and a high degree of
turning on the spot. The V.ply construction offers
good stability and wear, with strong sidewalls
and highly abrasive and crack-resistant
compound.
Continental also has digital tyre pressure
monitoring systems for individual vehicles and
ContiConnect for fleets, which enhance safety
and efficiency in terminal operations.
Frédéric Bastien, co-founder and CEO
of Mnubo. “The Mnubo AI and analyt-
ics infrastructure was purpose-built to
accelerate the digital transformation of
traditional industries by democratising
the power of artificial intelligence and
machine learning...”
In addition to deploying AI-powered
applications, the ability to visualise vast
quantities of information and analyse
data is critical to the evolution of smart
enterprise. To further enhance these
capabilities AspenTech in June 2019
acquired Sabisu Ltd., a UK-based com-
pany that provides a flexible enterprise
visualisation and workflow solutions to
deliver real-time decision support.

Emerson has introduced two Rosemount
628 Universal Gas Sensors to measure
carbon monoxide and oxygen depletion in
addition to hydrogen sulfide.
It can be deployed using a
WirelessHART network in areas
too impractical or expensive for the
conventional wired infrastructure.
The Rosemount 928 Wireless Gas Monitor
checks conditions in process plants,
remote wellheads, pipelines, storage
terminals and other facilities.
The Rosemount 928 Gas Monitor has
hot-swappable main components,
including the power module and the
Rosemount 628 toxic gas sensor.
